About Us
Warner-Tully Camp History
The History of Warner-Tully is a long and storied one. In 1955, Anderson-Tully Lumber Company gifted 108 acres near Port Gibson, MS to the Vicksburg Y. Soon after this donation, C.L. Warner left the Vicksburg Y a substantial bequest in order to establish a summer residential camp on that property. Construction would begin soon after, and Warner-Tully Memorial YMCA Camp would open its gates in the summer of 1960.
Many things have changed since Warner-Tully first opened in 1960. Thousands of children from Mississippi and Louisiana have spent fun and exciting summers at camp while creating many many unforgettable memories. In 2010, Warner-Tully celebrated 50 years of consecutive service. Facilities have improved and program activities have evolved, but our commitment to a strong Christian mission and a rich tradition of safe and exciting outdoor activities with outstanding staff leadership has remained.
Our YMCA Mission Statement
Helping people achieve their God-given potential in spirit, mind and body.
Warner-Tully's goals for every camper:
- To meet new people and to create new friendships while fostering old ones
- To grow in one's knowledge of God and in appreciation for God's great outdoors
- To learn to take responsibility and to cooperate with others.
- To grow in independence and to learn to be themselves.
- To engage in activities that one would not be able to at home or in school.
- To learn the right sense of competition and the values of participation - win or lose.
Our Leaders are Professionals
We welcome back Allison East Krabill as camp director. Allison is committed to working with our counselors to give your child the best experience possible while helping him/her grow. At Warner-Tully, when it comes to staff, you can expect the best. Our staff is dedicated to providing a positive, safe experience for every camper. With a ratio of 2 counselors for every 10 campers, our counselors can focus on your camper’s individual needs while serving as excellent mentors and role models for your children. Before any campers arrive at camp, all counselors participate in an intensive training on safety, camp policies, and different counseling and teaching techniques that make Warner-Tully counselors some of the best around!
